Find a St. Lucie County Jail Inmate and Check Current Custody
If you are trying to find someone arrested in Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie or elsewhere in St. Lucie County, start with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office inmate database. The official search can confirm current jail custody and can also keep recently released people searchable for a short period after release.
Fort Pierce, FL 34945
Use the jail number when the online record does not answer a current custody question.
How to Use the St. Lucie Jail Inmate Search
- Open the official St. Lucie County inmate search.
- Enter at least part of the person’s first name or last name. Starting with the last name usually produces a cleaner result.
- If you want a broader roster, the Sheriff’s search allows the % sign in the last-name field to display the wider inmate list.
- If the arrest happened today, use the Only Today’s Bookings option when useful.
- Open the matching inmate profile instead of relying only on the search-results row.
- Compare the inmate ID, date of birth, age, arresting agency and booking date before assuming you have the correct person.
- Review every listed charge and bond entry because one booking can contain several separate charges, holds or court statuses.
The Sheriff’s search states that it displays people who are currently incarcerated through five days after release. This makes it useful when someone was released recently but no longer appears to be actively housed in the jail.
What a St. Lucie County Inmate Profile Can Show
| Record field | What it helps you verify |
|---|---|
| Inmate ID | Identifies the person inside the jail system and is important for mail, account funding and other inmate services. |
| Date of birth and age | Helps separate people who have similar or identical names. |
| Arresting agency | Shows which law-enforcement agency handled the arrest. |
| Booking date and time | Shows when the current or displayed jail booking was processed. |
| Housing | Shows the listed housing assignment when one is available and can affect visitation scheduling. |
| Charges | Shows the booking offenses associated with the jail record. These are allegations or custody entries, not proof of conviction. |
| Status | May show entries such as pending, sentenced, time served or another case-related status. |
| Bond amount | Shows the amount associated with an individual charge when a monetary bond is listed. |
| Total bond | Totals displayed bond amounts, but does not by itself guarantee that the inmate is eligible for immediate release. |
| Expected release / released | May show an expected release date or a completed release date and time when available. |
The Sheriff’s inmate-information page also states that jail booking photos are available from its website only for people who are incarcerated at the time of the query. If a recently released person still appears in search results, do not assume a booking photograph will remain available.
If the Person Does Not Appear
A missing result does not automatically mean there was no arrest. Work through these checks before relying on an unofficial people-search site:
- Recent booking: intake may still be in progress. Search again later.
- Name variation: search only part of the last name, remove middle names, or try another spelling.
- Today’s arrest: use the Sheriff’s Today’s Bookings filter.
- Already released: recently released people can remain searchable for up to five days, but older releases may disappear from the current inmate search.
- Transferred: the person may have moved to state, federal or another local agency’s custody.
- Court case but no jail custody: a criminal case can remain active after a person leaves jail.
- Wrong county: confirm that the booking actually occurred in St. Lucie County.
If you have confirmed the spelling and still cannot resolve the custody status, call the St. Lucie County Jail at 772-462-3450.
Today’s Bookings, Arrest Information and Release Records
| You need to know | Best official source |
|---|---|
| Is the person currently in jail? | Sheriff inmate search |
| Who was booked today? | Use the Only Today’s Bookings option in the inmate search. |
| Need recent arrest-affidavit information? | Sheriff Daily Arrest Information |
| Was the person recently released? | Sheriff Release Report |
| Need the criminal court case or hearing? | St. Lucie Clerk Public Search |
The Sheriff labels its navigation resource as a release report, while the live embedded jail report currently displays a multi-day release list. For the most precise answer, check the individual’s profile for a recorded release date and time and compare it with the live release report.
Charges, Bond, Court Dates and Pretrial Status
The inmate profile is useful for the jail side of the case: booking charges, charge status, individual bond amounts and total displayed bond. The court record is the better source for filings, judicial action, hearing information and final disposition.
How to check the related criminal case
- First identify the correct inmate in the Sheriff’s roster.
- Write down the person’s full booked name and any useful case or charge information.
- Open the St. Lucie County Clerk Public Search.
- Select the court-case search option.
- Search the defendant’s name or case number when known.
- Open the matching criminal case and review available docket activity and hearings.
- For the daily schedule, use the Clerk’s current court docket.
The Clerk maintains felony records through Circuit Criminal and misdemeanor, criminal-traffic, municipal-ordinance and county-ordinance matters through County Criminal.
Cash bond and surety bond
The St. Lucie County Clerk describes a surety bond as one guaranteed through a bond agency and a cash bond as the full bond amount deposited in cash. If a cash bond is used, keep the payment documentation. The Clerk handles cash-bond refund procedures after the case reaches the appropriate disposition or a judge orders discharge.

Pretrial release is different from jail release
A person can leave the jail but remain under court-ordered pretrial supervision. The Clerk provides a separate Pretrial Release Status resource. Depending on the case, supervision can include conditions such as GPS monitoring, testing, home visits or curfew.
