Find a Volusia County Jail Inmate and Check Booking Status

If you are trying to find someone arrested in Daytona Beach, DeLand, Deltona, Ormond Beach, New Smyrna Beach or elsewhere in Volusia County, start with the Volusia County Division of Corrections Inmate Information Search. This is the county-operated jail lookup used for people processed through Volusia County Corrections.

Quick answer: Volusia County’s jail system is operated by the Volusia County Division of Corrections, not the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. Use the county inmate portal first, then use the Clerk of Court when you need the related criminal court case.

Open Official Inmate Search Search Court Cases
Important: The county states that information displayed by the online inmate portal is provided for general informational use and is not the official record for legal action. Jail-maintained records are the official corrections records, while the Volusia County Clerk of Court maintains official court records.

How to Search the Official Volusia County Jail Roster

  1. Open the official inmate portal. Go to volusiamug.vcgov.org.
  2. Read the county disclaimer. The first screen explains the limits on using the online information. Select Accept to continue.
  3. Search for the person. Use the inmate’s booked name. A booking number is especially useful when several people have similar names.
  4. Open the matching inmate record. Compare identifying details carefully before assuming you found the correct person.
  5. Record the booking and case numbers. These numbers are useful for bond questions, visitation, inmate mail and locating the related criminal court case.

Do not rely only on a name match. A Volusia inmate detail page can contain a booking number, inmate ID, booking or release date, charge information, Florida statute number, bond information, arrest case number, court case number, charge status, aliases and booking history.

Which Volusia County Jail Is Holding the Inmate?

Volusia County Corrections operates two primary jail facilities west of Daytona Beach. Both are near U.S. 92, west of the I-95 interchange.

Facility Who is generally housed there Contact
Volusia County Branch Jail
1300 Red John Drive
Daytona Beach, FL 32124
Pretrial inmates, state-sentenced inmates and medium/high-custody non-sentenced male inmates. County-listed capacity: 899. 386-254-1555
Volusia County Correctional Facility
1354 Indian Lake Road
Daytona Beach, FL 32124
County-sentenced inmates, low/medium-custody non-sentenced male inmates and female inmates. County-listed capacity: 595. 386-254-1565

For bond payments and First Appearance hearings, use the Branch Jail. Do not assume that an inmate’s housing facility is also the place where bond must be handled.

Need a Daily Booking List Instead of a Name Search?

The inmate portal is best when you know who you are looking for. If you want to review people booked on a particular recent date, Volusia County also supplies jail-management data through the Clerk’s Arrest/Booking Download page.

The page provides downloadable daily reports, including PDF and spreadsheet files. The Clerk notes that these booking files are created by Volusia County using data from the Jail Management System and are not created or maintained by the Clerk.

Open Arrest/Booking Downloads

Some records may be withheld because of statutory exemptions. A daily booking report also should not be treated as proof that every person listed remains in custody.

How to Check Charges, Bond and the Court Case

Current jail record
Use the Volusia County inmate portal for the booking, displayed charges, bond fields and jail-related information.
Criminal court case
Use the Volusia County Clerk’s Case Inquiry when you need docket activity, future hearings or court documents available to the public.

A jail record and a court record are not the same thing. After identifying the correct inmate, look for the court case number on the inmate record and use it with the Clerk’s public case search.

The county says future court dates may take approximately one to two days after First Appearance to be processed by the Clerk. Court proceedings can also occur at different courthouse locations, so verify the location rather than assuming the hearing will be at the jail.

First Appearance in Volusia County

The county’s current Corrections FAQ lists First Appearance hearings at the Branch Jail and states that they are generally scheduled for:

  • Monday-Friday: 1:30 p.m.
  • Weekends and holidays: 8:30 a.m.

A judge may leave the existing bond in place, increase or decrease it, release the person on recognizance, or place the defendant on pretrial supervision depending on the case.

Posting Bond for a Volusia County Inmate

Bond information is handled through the Branch Jail Booking Office. The county says the Booking Office operates 24 hours a day.

  1. Locate the inmate and write down the booking number.
  2. Review every displayed charge and bond entry.
  3. Call 386-254-1555 or the Booking/Bonding/Charges/Arrest line at 386-254-1540 if the status is unclear.
  4. Confirm that the inmate is actually eligible for release before making payment.
  5. Bond may be posted at the Branch Jail in cash or through a bondsman under the county’s published procedures.
Bond scam warning: Volusia County Corrections warns that jail employees do not call or text families to solicit bond payments. Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be jail staff or a bondsman and demanding payment through Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, Bitcoin or a similar transfer method.

What Happens After an Inmate Is Ordered Released?

A court order or posted bond does not necessarily mean the person walks out immediately. Corrections staff must receive and process the release paperwork.

The county states that once release processing begins, it can take approximately 2 to 4 hours, depending on the circumstances. After court, processing may not begin until the day’s court proceedings have finished and Corrections receives the paperwork.

Volusia County also states that inmates generally are not released between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. An exception can be made when a responsible party is physically present to transport the inmate and checks in with Control.

Female inmates are released from the Correctional Facility. Release-status screens are also located in facility lobbies.

If You Cannot Find the Inmate

A blank search does not necessarily mean there is no arrest or case. Work through these checks:

  1. Check spelling. Search the legal or booked name and consider a known alias.
  2. Check recent booking files. A very recent arrest may be easier to identify through the county’s daily Arrest/Booking Download.
  3. Call Booking/Charges. Use 386-254-1540 for booking, bond, charge and arrest questions.
  4. Check the court case. A person can leave county jail while the criminal case continues.
  5. Check Florida state prison custody. If the person was sentenced and transferred to the Florida Department of Corrections, use the Florida Offender Search.
Search the right system:
  • Current Volusia County jail custody → Volusia County Corrections
  • Recent county booking list → Arrest/Booking Download
  • Criminal court case → Volusia County Clerk of Court
  • Florida state prison → Florida Department of Corrections
  • Federal prison → Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator

Inmate Money and Commissary

Before sending money, find the correct inmate and booking number. Volusia County currently directs users to Access Corrections for approved inmate account and commissary-related services. Card transactions may include vendor service fees.

The county also assesses a $30 one-time booking fee and a $5 daily subsistence fee against inmate accounts. According to the county, eligible inmates who choose to work while incarcerated have the daily $5 subsistence fee waived.

Because deposit methods and vendor instructions can change, confirm the current county-approved option before sending funds.
