Find an Irving City Jail Inmate and Check Current Custody
If you are searching for an Irving jail inmate, start with the Irving City Jail rather than a county-jail directory. Irving is a city in Dallas County, Texas; there is no separate “Irving County Jail.” The City of Irving operates its own short-term jail at the Criminal Justice Center, while some people with higher-level charges may later move into the Dallas County jail system.

How to Search the Irving Jail Roster
- Open the official In Custody report. The City of Irving publishes a PDF titled “Jail In Custody Report – All Adult Inmates.”
- Check the date and time at the top. The city says the online custody resource is updated daily Monday through Friday, so the timestamp matters when you are checking a very recent arrest.
- Search the PDF for the last name. On a computer use Ctrl+F or Command+F. On a phone use the PDF viewer’s Find or Search option.
- Open the correct inmate entry. Compare the full name, age and booking date instead of relying on the name alone.
- Write down the booking number. This is one of the most useful identifiers when calling the jail or following the case.
- Review each charge row separately. One inmate can have multiple Irving, Dallas County or other-agency warrants.
- If there is no match, do not assume the person was released. Check the troubleshooting steps below and search Dallas County if a transfer may have occurred.
What Information Is Shown in the Irving In Custody Report?
The live report is more useful than a simple name list. Depending on the inmate and case, it can display the following information:
| Roster field | What it helps you understand |
|---|---|
| Name, age, race and gender | Helps distinguish people with similar names. |
| Booking date/time | Shows when the person entered Irving custody. |
| Booking number | Unique booking reference useful for follow-up calls and records. |
| Court | May show a scheduled court/magistration time or “Pending.” |
| Charge | Lists the offense or warrant associated with that custody row. |
| Level | Shows the reported offense classification. |
| Warrant number | Identifies a specific warrant when one exists. |
| Fine amount | May show an amount connected with a municipal or warrant matter. |
| Bond amount | Shows a listed bond where one has been entered. |
| Warrant agency | Shows whether Irving Police, Dallas County or another jurisdiction is involved. |
| Disposition | Can show information such as pending action, release action or transfer-related status. |
Common level abbreviations: MC generally refers to a Class C misdemeanor, MB to Class B misdemeanor, MA to Class A misdemeanor, FS to a state jail felony, and F3/F2/F1 to third-, second- and first-degree felony classifications. Use the court record for the legal status of the charge because a jail roster is a custody record, not a final case disposition.
If the Person Is Not on the Irving Jail List
A missing name does not automatically mean the person was never arrested. Work through these checks in order:
- Confirm the spelling of the person’s legal name.
- Look at the report’s generation date and time.
- If the arrest was very recent, allow time for booking and intake.
- Call Irving Jail Book-In at 972-721-2625 or the jail at 972-721-3608.
- Ask whether the inmate is still in Irving custody or has been transferred.
- If transferred to Dallas County, use the official Dallas County Jail Lookup.
- If immigration custody is involved, use the ICE locator rather than continuing to search local jail rosters.
Irving City Jail vs. Dallas County Jail
| Situation | Where to check |
|---|---|
| Person was just arrested by Irving Police | Start with the Irving City Jail In Custody report. |
| Irving Class C misdemeanor or Irving Municipal Court warrant | Irving Jail and Irving Municipal Court are the main starting points. |
| Class B misdemeanor, Class A misdemeanor or felony | Check Irving first, then Dallas County as higher-level cases follow the Dallas County arraignment process. |
| Inmate was transferred from Irving | Search the Dallas County Jail Lookup using the inmate’s identifying information. |
| Older criminal case after release | Use the appropriate court or records system rather than relying only on a live jail roster. |
For a Dallas County transfer, the county operates the Lew Sterrett Justice Center jail complex at 111 West Commerce Street, Dallas, TX 75202. The Dallas County search supports name, book-in number and case-number lookup.

Magistration, Bond and Release
Booking and magistration are separate steps. During booking, jail staff document the person’s identifying information, arrest reason and personal property, and fingerprints and a booking photograph are taken.
During magistration, a judge advises the prisoner of the charges, rights and bond amount. Irving states that prisoners held on Irving Class C misdemeanor charges are magistrated daily at 9 a.m. People held on Class B misdemeanors or higher charges are subject to Dallas County’s arraignment schedule.
Irving Class C misdemeanor warrants
The City of Irving lists several ways a prisoner may resolve an Irving Class C misdemeanor warrant:
- Cash payment
- Credit card using MasterCard, Visa or Discover
- Release through sufficient “time served” jail credit
- A combination of jail credit and cash or credit-card payment
A Class C warrant from another jurisdiction may follow different rules. The issuing agency may require payment directly, especially where a county agency does not permit the City of Irving to accept its bond or fine.
Alias warrant vs. Capias Pro Fine
An Alias warrant generally means no plea has been entered. Irving states that the individual, a bail-bond company or an attorney may post a bond to secure a future court appearance.
A Capias Pro Fine means a plea has already been entered and the person did not complete the court agreement. Irving says the usual options are payment of the fine in full or remaining in custody until sufficient jail credit is earned.
Felony or higher-level misdemeanor bond
For felony or non-Class-C misdemeanor cases, Irving directs users toward an attorney/bail-bond company and the Dallas County Sheriff’s bond process. Before paying anyone, verify the inmate, current bond and custody location first.

Irving Jail Visitation
| Day | Visiting hours |
|---|---|
| Sunday | 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. |
| Tuesday | 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. |
| Thursday | 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. |
Visits are limited to 10 minutes. A maximum of two people are allowed for a visitation period, with only one visitor visiting at a time.
Visitors must be at least 17 years old, dress appropriately and bring government-issued photo identification showing their name and date of birth. The city also states that visitors are checked for outstanding warrants and are subject to search before entering the visitation room.
What Can You Bring to an Irving Jail Prisoner?
The City of Irving does not allow family or friends to add ordinary personal-convenience items or money to a prisoner’s property.
- Prescription medication may be accepted and dispensed as prescribed.
- One pair of underwear and socks may be brought for a prisoner each day.
- Underwire bras are prohibited.
Because Irving City Jail is primarily a temporary detention facility, do not mail packages, send money through an advertised third-party service or assume Dallas County inmate-service rules apply while the person is still in Irving. Call the jail if you need a service that is not specifically listed by the city.
How to Pick Up Prisoner Property
The Irving Police Property Room is at 305 N. O’Connor Road and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- The prisoner must give written permission authorizing release of the property.
- Complete the required property-release form.
- Bring a driver’s license or other government-issued identification.
- Remember that property being held as evidence cannot be released through this process.
Property Room questions: 972-721-2688.
How to Get Older Irving Jail or Police Records
The live In Custody PDF is meant for current custody. If the person has already been released and you need a police record or other releasable document, use the Irving Police/Open Records process.

Keep in mind that an arrest, booking, charge or jail photograph does not establish guilt. For the outcome of a criminal case, use the appropriate court record.
If the Inmate Was Transferred to ICE
Irving states that its jail staff will not have continuing information after a prisoner has been transferred into Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
Use the official ICE Online Detainee Locator System. It allows a search by A-Number and country of birth or by biographical information. For a name search, ICE requires the person’s first name, last name and country of birth.
