Find a Douglas County Jail Inmate and Check Current Booking Details

If you are trying to locate someone held in Douglas County, Georgia, start with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office inmate search. The Sheriff’s Jail Information page links directly to the county’s live inmate system and is the best starting point for current custody information.

The Douglas County Jail serves the Douglasville area and is operated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. A jail listing can help you confirm custody and review available booking information, but it should not be treated as proof that a person was convicted.

What the Jail Search Can — and Cannot — Tell You

InformationHow to use it
Current custodyUse it to determine whether the person is presently shown in Douglas County jail custody.
Booking detailsUse the booking record and identifier to distinguish people with similar names.
ChargesThese describe allegations or custody-related charges. They are not a final court disposition.
Bond informationA listed bond can help identify the next step, but court action can change the amount or eligibility.
Booking numberKeep this number available for jail communication, mail and other inmate services.

A booking entry documents an arrest or detention. It does not establish guilt. Charges can later be amended, dismissed, reduced or resolved differently by a court.

If You Cannot Find the Person

Before assuming the person is no longer in custody, check the most common causes of a missing result:

  • Try the surname by itself or remove a middle name.
  • Check alternate spellings and the person’s full legal name.
  • Allow additional processing time after a very recent arrest.
  • Confirm the arrest actually resulted in booking into Douglas County Jail.
  • Consider whether the person has already bonded out or been released.
  • Check whether the person was transferred to state custody or another facility.

If the online result is still unclear, the official Douglas County government directory lists the Douglas County Jail at 770-942-4333, available 24 hours a day. The Sheriff’s Office main number is 770-942-2121.

Bond, Bond Hearings and Court Case Information

The inmate roster may show bond information, but the court controls bond eligibility and conditions. Douglas County’s Sheriff states that bond hearings are held on the third floor of the Douglas County Courthouse, Courtroom 2, 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, GA 30134.

DayPosted bond-hearing start time
Monday9:00 a.m.
Tuesday8:30 a.m.
Wednesday9:00 a.m.
Thursday8:30 a.m.
Friday9:00 a.m.

For a property bond, the Sheriff’s posted instructions say to bring the deed, a current tax statement showing taxes are paid and the assessed fair-market value, and the most recent mortgage statement showing the amount owed. The Sheriff specifically warns that statements printed from the internet are not accepted for this purpose.

Probation violation: the Sheriff’s jail FAQ states that probation violations do not have a bond. The probation officer and, when necessary, a judge determine how the violation proceeds.

Check the Criminal Case After You Find the Booking

A jail record is designed for custody information, not final court outcomes. Douglas County Superior and State Court records can be searched through the county’s public court system.

  1. First identify the correct inmate and booking in the jail search.
  2. Open the Douglas County court public-record search.
  3. For a name search, the Clerk instructs users to enter the name in LAST NAME, FIRST NAME format.
  4. Match the case to the person and charge rather than relying on a similar name alone.
  5. Use the court record for hearings, filings and case disposition.

Preliminary hearings for eligible defendants who remain jailed and whose cases have not yet reached the Grand Jury or accusation stage are posted by Douglas County Magistrate Court for Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. on the third floor of the courthouse.

Visiting an Inmate

Douglas County requires visitors to register online at least 24 hours before the requested visit. Walk-in visits without online registration are no longer permitted. The Sheriff states that visits are scheduled no later than 7:40 p.m.

  1. Confirm the inmate is still in custody.
  2. Open the Sheriff’s Jail Information page.
  3. Choose virtual visitation or in-person friends-and-family registration.
  4. Complete registration at least 24 hours before the planned visit.
  5. Review the current dress code before arriving.

Posted dress rules prohibit low-cut shirts, very short shorts, spandex or form-fitting clothing, pants worn below the waist, and clothing displaying obscene or vulgar material.

For visitation problems, call 770-920-4917 during the Sheriff’s posted weekday support hours of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The jail also lists 678-486-1273 as a visitation contact.

Sending Money and Commissary

Douglas County currently uses GettingOut for online inmate-account deposits and also allows certain money orders sent through the U.S. Postal Service. Before sending money, verify the inmate’s correct name and booking number.

GettingOut is the Sheriff’s linked online service. Telephone deposit assistance is available through the service at 1-866-516-0115.

Current commissary details posted by the Sheriff
  • Commissary deposits may take up to 72 hours to post.
  • The posted Monday food-and-beverage store limit is $75.
  • The posted hygiene-and-clothing limit is $55.
  • JailATM gift packs are currently limited to $40.
  • The jail states that an inmate can receive one gift pack per week.
  • Gift-pack orders for Monday delivery must currently be submitted by Thursday.

Limits, vendors and processing rules can change. Recheck the official jail page immediately before making a payment.

For commissary questions, the Sheriff’s page lists 770-920-4972, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Phone Calls, Voicemail and Messages

Douglas County Jail uses the GettingOut system for inmate telephone and messaging services. Inmates initiate calls; friends and family do not call directly through to an inmate.

  • Telephone/account assistance: 1-866-516-0115.
  • The Sheriff’s posted voicemail option allows messages of up to three minutes and currently lists a $1.25 voicemail charge.
  • GettingOut secure messages are reviewed by the facility before delivery.
  • The jail currently limits secure messages to 300 characters, including punctuation.

Never send sensitive account information in an inmate message. Jail communications are subject to facility monitoring and security rules.

Douglas County Inmate Mail Address

Douglas County changed its regular inmate-mail process effective August 15, 2025. Personal mail is now routed to a scanning facility and delivered electronically to the inmate’s tablet.

Older Jail Records, Arrest Reports and Proof of Incarceration

The live jail search is best for present custody. For an older booking, incarceration verification or agency record, use the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Records Division.

Proof of incarcerationAvailable through the Records Division; the Sheriff’s request form lists a $2 charge.

The Sheriff’s Open Records request form states that the department will respond to a request within three business days after receipt. Because fee schedules can be revised, rely on the current Records Division page for the amount due when you submit the request.

Douglas County also publishes daily arrest, headcount and bond reports. These can be useful when researching a recent arrest that no longer appears as an active jail entry.

Booking Photos / Mugshots

The Records Division states that inmate booking photographs are subject to Georgia’s O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19 requirements. A person requesting a booking photo may need to complete the Sheriff’s Book-In Photo Affidavit rather than simply downloading an image from the jail roster.

If the Person Was Transferred Out of Douglas County Jail

A person may disappear from the local roster after release, transfer or movement into another correctional system. If you know the person received a Georgia state sentence, check the Georgia Department of Corrections Offender Search.

The GDC tool can search state offenders using identifying information such as a name, description, GDC ID or case number. It is a different database from the Douglas County jail roster.
