Find a St. Lucie County Jail Inmate and Verify Current Custody

For a Saint Lucie County Jail inmate search, start with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office inmate lookup. The official search is designed for people who are currently incarcerated and accepts at least a partial first name, last name, or both.

Open the matching inmate profile before acting on a result. Depending on the booking, the record can show the inmate ID, date of birth, age, arresting agency, booking date and time, housing location, charges, charge status and bond information. The Sheriff’s Office states that booking photos displayed through its website are available for people incarcerated when the search is performed.

What the Official Inmate Record Can Tell You

FieldWhy it matters
Inmate IDIdentifies the person in the jail system and may be needed for deposits, mail and other services.
Name, DOB and ageHelps distinguish people with similar names.
Arresting agencyShows which agency is associated with the booking.
Booking date and timeHelps confirm that you are viewing the arrest you expected.
HousingMay be relevant to visitation scheduling and current placement.
ChargesShows allegations associated with the booking. A listed charge is not proof of guilt.
Charge statusCan help explain whether a particular booking charge remains pending or has another posted status.
Bond amountShows a listed bond when one is posted; eligibility can still be affected by other charges or court orders.
Release informationMay be displayed when available, but live status should be rechecked before making plans.
Jail record ≠ conviction. An arrest, booking or criminal charge does not establish guilt. For filed court proceedings, hearing dates and final disposition, use the St. Lucie County Clerk’s court records.

If You Cannot Find the Person

A missing inmate-search result does not automatically mean the person was never arrested. Work through the possibilities in this order:

How to Check Recent St. Lucie County Jail Releases

The Sheriff’s inmate-information hub links to a release report. Although the information hub describes the resource as a “48 hour release report,” the live report currently opens as a 5 Day Release Report. Use the live report title and dates displayed on the official page when checking a recent release.

  1. Search the current inmate lookup first.
  2. If the person no longer appears in current custody, open the Sheriff’s release report.
  3. Look for the correct name and confirm the date of birth.
  4. Review the listed release date and time.
  5. If pickup, bond or same-day status matters, call 772-462-3450 for current confirmation.

How to Check Charges, Court Dates and the Criminal Case

The jail roster answers a custody question; the Clerk’s court system answers a court-case question. St. Lucie County’s Clerk maintains Circuit Criminal records for felony cases and County Criminal records for misdemeanors, criminal traffic and local ordinance cases.

  1. Find the correct inmate in the Sheriff’s lookup.
  2. Write down the full legal name and any available case or booking details.
  3. Open the St. Lucie County Clerk Public Search.
  4. Select Court Cases.
  5. Search for the defendant and carefully match the correct case.
  6. Use the court record for filed charges, docket activity, upcoming court information, assigned judge and available court documents.

The Clerk also provides a daily court schedule and a pretrial-status search. Courtroom assignments can change, so a person attending court should verify current instructions rather than relying on an old booking record.

Bond and Release Information

An inmate profile can display a bond amount for individual booking offenses. Read every charge before assuming the total amount shown is all that is required. A separate charge, hold, no-bond order or later court decision can prevent immediate release.

Before paying or arranging a bond:
  • confirm the correct inmate;
  • review every listed charge and bond amount;
  • check the related court case when needed;
  • call the jail at 772-462-3450 to verify current release eligibility and instructions.

The St. Lucie County Clerk explains two general bond types: a surety bond, generally handled through a bond agency, and a cash bond, which is the total bond amount deposited in cash. For a cash-bond refund after the case is resolved, the Clerk states that unpaid court fees, costs and criminal penalties can be deducted before a refund is issued.

St. Lucie County Jail Visitation

Personal visitation is handled through the jail’s video-visitation system. The Sheriff’s current instructions direct visitors to Smart Communications/SmartInmate for scheduling.

How to schedule a visit

  1. Confirm the inmate is still in custody and note the current housing location.
  2. Register through the visitation system linked from the Sheriff’s official visitation page.
  3. Select an available appointment based on housing, classification and available visitation stations.
  4. Schedule before 11:00 p.m. when you need next-day availability.
  5. For on-site visits, arrive at least 15 minutes early with acceptable photo identification.

The posted rules state that appointments may be scheduled from one day up to 14 days in advance. Each inmate is currently allotted two free hours of visitation per week. The Sheriff’s general visitation page lists additional or remote visitation at 17¢ per minute after the free allotment and notes that prices can change.

Appointments are posted in 15-minute blocks for visits lasting up to one hour. The last schedulable one-hour visit ends before the closing time, making the final posted start approximately 10:30 a.m. for the morning session and 4:00 p.m. for the afternoon session.

Important current rules: The Sheriff’s posted on-site rules state that no more than two visitors may check in for a visit, only one person may visit at a time, valid photo ID is required, and minors are currently not permitted in the visitation or lobby waiting area. Jail emergencies and administrative needs can cancel visits, so verify before traveling.

How to Put Money on a St. Lucie County Inmate Account

The Sheriff’s Office uses inmate accounts for canteen purchases and qualifying jail expenses. The official account page currently identifies TouchPay for deposits.

Have these details ready:
  • Facility Locator Number: 234901
  • Facility: St. Lucie County, FL
  • inmate ID number;
  • inmate name.

Available funding methods

  • Jail kiosk: located at St. Lucie County Jail; cash can be used at the kiosk.
  • Telephone: 866-232-1899.
  • Online: use TouchPay through the link provided on the Sheriff’s Accounts/Canteen page.

The published instructions allow Visa/Mastercard credit or debit cards and electronic checking methods, depending on the deposit channel. A convenience fee applies. The jail states that money orders and cashier’s checks are not accepted for inmate-account funding and will be returned.

Why the available balance may be lower than your deposit: The Sheriff’s account policy states that deposits first satisfy the intake/booking fee. After that, part of a deposit can be applied to outstanding jail debt before the remaining funds become available for canteen purchases.

Canteen deliveries are normally made weekly from Tuesday morning through Friday evening. The Sheriff’s page also links to iCare for approved product purchases. For inmate-account questions, it lists Aramark at 772-462-3490, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Inmate Phone Calls, Tablets and Messaging

St. Lucie County Jail uses Smart Communications for inmate telephone, tablet and messaging services. Family and friends can use prepaid calling options, while tablets provide approved educational, entertainment and messaging functions.

The Sheriff’s currently posted Smart Inmate informational brochure lists local, intrastate, interstate and other standard call categories at $0.08 per minute, excluding applicable taxes and fees. Because vendor rates can change, confirm the amount displayed when funding an account.

The same official brochure lists Smart Communications customer care at 727-349-1561, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for account creation, deposits, communication-service questions, rates, billing and refunds.

How to Send Mail to a St. Lucie County Jail Inmate

Personal inmate mail is processed through a digital-mail system. Personal letters, pictures and drawings are sent to an off-site Smart Communications scanning location and then made available to the inmate electronically.

Personal mail

Include the complete facility name, inmate’s full identifying information, and the sender’s full name and physical address. Mail for someone who is no longer in custody will not be delivered. The jail also restricts sexually explicit or otherwise prohibited material.

Legal or privileged mail

St. Lucie County Jail

The inmate ID and housing information can be obtained from the inmate lookup. Legitimate legal and privileged correspondence is handled separately from routine personal mail.

Property pickup

For property to be released, the inmate must first complete a property-release slip naming the person authorized to receive it. The named person must bring photo identification. The Sheriff’s posted pickup hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

If You Need to Report an Inmate’s Medical Condition or Medication

The jail maintains a medical-information line at 772-672-8582. Family members can leave information concerning an inmate’s medical condition, current medications or other medical concerns.

  • Messages are reviewed and returned within 48 hours, Monday-Friday.
  • The line accepts medical information only; it cannot be used to pass personal messages to an inmate.
  • For non-medical jail concerns, use 772-462-3450.
  • To receive private medical information about an inmate, an active Release of Information (ROI) must be on file.
  • When an approved person receives requested medical information, the Sheriff’s instructions require in-person identification at the jail.

Booking Photos, Arrest Reports and Public Records

The current inmate lookup is the quickest place to check a booking photo for someone who is presently incarcerated. The Sheriff’s Office specifically notes that jail booking photos on its inmate website are available only for people incarcerated when the search is made.

If the person has been released or you need a report rather than a live inmate profile, use the Sheriff’s Public Records Request system. Available request categories include public records and background checks, although exemptions can apply to investigative information, juveniles, victims, medical information and some inmate records.

The Sheriff’s current fee schedule lists a $20 background check and $5 per booking photo. Other records can have copying or processing charges depending on the request.

Best Way to Get a Reliable Answer

Start with the Sheriff’s inmate lookup for current custody. Use the release report when the person recently left the jail, the Clerk for the criminal case, and the jail’s service pages for visitation, money, mail, phone or medical questions. This sequence gives you most of the information needed before you ever have to call or complete a transaction on an external service.

Custody data changes throughout the day. Always recheck the official record before traveling to the jail, paying money, arranging a bond, mailing property-sensitive material or relying on a release date.
