Find a LaSalle County Jail Inmate and Check the Current Roster
If someone was recently arrested in LaSalle County, start with the county’s official iSOMS jail portal. It separates the current jail roster from people booked or released during the last 24 or 72 hours, which makes it easier to choose the right search instead of relying on an unofficial people-search site.
Use the roster for custody information. An arrest or jail booking does not mean a person was convicted.
How to Search the Official LaSalle County Jail Roster
- Open the official iSOMS portal. Use LaSalle County’s jail portal.
- Choose the record that matches your question. Select Jail for the current roster, Jail Intake/Release (last 24 hours) for very recent activity, or Jail Intake/Release (last 72 hours) for a wider recent-booking window.
- Complete the human verification screen if it appears. The jail portion of the portal may require this check before roster records are displayed.
- Check the identity carefully. Compare the full name and any other identifying or booking information shown before assuming you have the correct person.
- Use the court system for the criminal case. A jail roster is a custody record. Filed charges, court dates, docket activity and final case results belong in the Circuit Clerk’s records.
- Call the jail if the result is unclear. LaSalle County Jail lists 815-434-8383 for jail information.
Check the 24-hour intake/release list first. Booking information can take time to enter the public system, so a person who was arrested very recently may not appear immediately.
Which LaSalle County Search Should You Use?
| Your question | Best source | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Is the person in LaSalle County Jail now? | iSOMS Jail | Current county-jail custody |
| Was the person booked or released today? | iSOMS 24-hour list | Recent intake and release activity |
| What happened during the last few days? | iSOMS 72-hour list | Wider recent intake/release check |
| What charges or court dates were filed? | LaSalle County Circuit Clerk | Criminal case docket and court events |
| Was the person transferred to Illinois prison? | Illinois DOC | State-prison custody |
| Do I need an older jail record? | Jail FOIA request | Records not available through the live roster |
If You Cannot Find the Person
A missing roster result does not always mean the arrest did not happen. Work through these checks before relying on a negative result:
- Check the spelling, middle name, suffix and date of birth if known.
- Use the 24-hour and 72-hour intake/release views, not only the current roster.
- Allow time for booking after a recent arrest.
- The person may already have been released after a court hearing.
- The arresting agency may have transferred the person to another jurisdiction.
- If the person was sentenced to Illinois state custody, use the Illinois Department of Corrections search.
- Juvenile, sealed or otherwise restricted information may not appear publicly.

Mail an Inmate
Use this mailing format:
LaSalle County Jail
707 E Etna Road
Ottawa, IL 61350
Regular letters and cards are scanned into the jail system for the inmate to view electronically. The county says the original mail is destroyed after processing, so do not send irreplaceable items.
- Written or typed letters are permitted subject to jail rules.
- Greeting cards cannot be musical or contain glued or taped items.
- No more than 10 pictures should be included at one time.
- Pictures showing drugs, alcohol, weapons, gang material, nudity or sexual content are prohibited.
- Do not use glitter, perfume, lipstick, adhesives or foreign substances.
- Qualifying newspaper and periodical subscriptions must come from the publisher.
- The jail does not accept mailed book donations. It states that inmates may keep religious books and NA or AA books.
Put Money on an Inmate Account
The county lists two main deposit methods:
- Online: use the jail’s approved JailATM deposit service.
- At the jail: use the lobby kiosk, which the county says accepts cash and credit/debit cards.
Do not mail money or checks to the jail. The county states that checks are not accepted and money sent through the mail will be returned.

Check Charges, Court Dates and Case Records
The jail roster and court docket answer different questions. Once you identify the correct person, use the LaSalle County Circuit Clerk for the criminal case.
- Open the LaSalle County Online Court Records.
- Search the available case information using the person’s correct name or known case details.
- Confirm the case is a LaSalle County case before relying on it.
- Review available docket information, court dates and case activity.
- If online information is insufficient, contact the Traffic/Criminal Division at 815-434-8271.
707 Etna Road, Room 141
Ottawa, IL 61350
Phone: 815-434-8271
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The Circuit Clerk also provides public viewing terminals for record searches. Court records are a better source than a jail roster when you need filed charges, hearings, orders or the later disposition of a case.
Illinois Pretrial Release: Do Not Rely on Old Cash-Bail Instructions
Illinois abolished cash bail on September 18, 2023. Current pretrial cases use the state’s release-and-detention framework rather than the older system in which a defendant routinely posted a percentage of a monetary bond.
Some older LaSalle County pages and third-party jail guides still contain pre-2023 bond language. For a current case, use the court docket and current court orders to determine whether the person was released, detained or given conditions of pretrial release.
A roster entry can change after a hearing, so court information is the better source when the question is why is the person still detained? or what conditions were ordered?
Request an Older Jail Record
If the live roster does not contain the record you need, LaSalle County provides a jail FOIA process.
| jailfoia@lasallecountyil.gov | |
| Fax | 815-431-4962 |
| Mail / in person | FOIA Officer, LaSalle County Jail, 707 E Etna Road, Ottawa, IL 61350 |
| Useful details to provide | Name, relevant date, booking information and case number when known |
The county’s FOIA form asks requesters to be as specific as possible. Providing the person’s correct name plus the booking date, case number or date range can reduce delays.

Programs and Medical Recovery Support
LaSalle County Jail publishes information about its Medication-Assisted Recovery program for incarcerated people with opioid or alcohol use disorders. The program combines approved medication with counseling, behavioral services and recovery support. For questions about eligibility, current availability or an individual’s medical needs, contact the jail directly rather than relying on public roster information.
Use Jail Information Carefully
A roster, arrest entry, warrant or criminal charge is not proof of guilt. Custody information can also change quickly after a hearing, release, transfer or sentencing. For an important legal, employment, housing or personal decision, confirm the identity and use the agency or court that owns the underlying record.
