Find a Larimer County Jail Inmate and Check Current Custody
If you are trying to locate someone arrested in Fort Collins, Loveland, Estes Park, Wellington, Timnath or elsewhere in Larimer County, start with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office inmate search. The official system is designed for people who are currently in the Larimer County Jail and can show identifying information, arrest details, charges, bond information and upcoming court dates.
You do not need to pay a people-search website to perform a basic Larimer County jail inmate search. The county also provides separate tools for recent bookings and releases, which are useful when a name does not appear in the current inmate search.
How to Use the Larimer County Jail Inmate Search
- Go to the official Larimer County inmate search.
- Enter at least two letters of the inmate’s last name.
- Wait for matching names to appear and select the person you are looking for.
- Confirm the person’s identity using the date of birth and other available identifiers.
- Write down the Inmate # and Jail ID. These identifiers can be useful when dealing with bond, mail, inmate money and other jail services.
- Review the arrest information, charges, warrant or docket number, bond type, bond amount and any listed court dates.
The official search is intended for current Larimer County Jail inmates. It should not be treated as a complete historical arrest database.
Do not assume the first matching record is the correct person. Compare the date of birth, arrest date, arresting agency, inmate number and case information. A mistaken identity can cause problems if you are about to send money, post bond or contact a jail service provider.
What Information Can Appear in the Inmate Record?
| Record field | What it helps you determine |
|---|---|
| Name and date of birth | Helps confirm that you found the correct person. |
| Jail ID and Inmate # | Identifiers connected with the person’s jail record and related services. |
| Arrest date | Shows when the current custody event began. |
| Arresting agency and agency case number | Identifies the law-enforcement agency and related agency case. |
| Charges | Lists accusations or legal authorities connected with the booking. |
| Warrant/docket number | Can help connect jail information with the related court matter. |
| Bond type and amount | Shows available bond information when a bond has been set. |
| Upcoming court dates | May show the case number, date, time and court associated with an upcoming appearance. |
A jail charge is not a conviction. The inmate record reflects custody and booking information. Charges can be amended, dismissed or resolved differently in court. Use the court docket when you need the filed case or final outcome.
If the Person Does Not Appear in the Search
A missing result does not automatically mean the person was never arrested. Work through these checks in order:
- Try a shorter surname search. The county requires only two or more letters of the last name.
- Check spelling. Try a legal surname, former surname, hyphenated surname or alternate spelling.
- Allow for booking time. The Sheriff’s Office says processing time varies and that evenings, weekends and holidays are traditionally busy booking periods.
- Open the recent booking report. A newly processed arrest may be easier to identify by arrest date or arresting agency.
- Check recent releases. Someone may have already bonded out or otherwise left custody.
- Call the jail at 970-498-5200. The Sheriff’s Office states that callers can ask whether a specific person is currently in jail.
- Check Colorado state custody if a transfer occurred. A person moved into state prison custody should be searched through the Colorado Department of Corrections offender search.

Recent Larimer County Bookings and Released Inmates
Larimer County separates current inmate search, recent booking information and release information into different public tools.
| If you need | Use this official source | Useful details |
|---|---|---|
| Someone currently in jail | Inmate Search | Name, DOB, IDs, arrest information, charges, bond and court dates. |
| A recent arrest or booking | Booking Report | Bookings by date and arresting agency, with charges and bond information. |
| Someone who left custody | Released Inmates | Release date, reason, arrest information and associated charges. |
The release page notes that displayed data includes people released eight or more hours earlier. For a release that happened very recently, online information may therefore lag behind the actual event.

How to Check Bond and Release Information
Start with the inmate record before paying anything. Confirm the inmate, every listed charge and the bond associated with each case. Larimer County allows bonds to be posted 24 hours a day.
Bond types you may see
| Bond type | Basic meaning |
|---|---|
| PR / Personal Recognizance | The defendant signs the bond; money is generally not required unless the defendant later fails to appear. |
| PR-Cosign / PR-Surety | A co-signer also becomes financially responsible under the terms of the bond. |
| Cash / Cash-Surety | The full amount is deposited using an accepted payment method. |
| Surety Bond | A licensed bail bond agent posts the bond and normally charges a non-refundable fee. |
| Property Bond | A bond tied to real estate and handled through the court clerk. Larimer County states that land is the accepted collateral for this type. |
Ways Larimer County accepts bond payments
- Cash through the kiosk at the jail entrance.
- Online or by phone through the county’s approved AllPaid service; the listed telephone number is 1-888-604-7888.
- Money order or cashier’s check at the release window, made payable as instructed to the Court Clerk or Clerk of Courts.
The jail’s facility locator number is 280525. Verify the inmate number, Jail ID and current bond before submitting money.
Check current Larimer County bond instructions before paying, because another hold, another case or a release condition can affect what happens after the bond is posted.
Larimer County’s published bonding/release policy states that release on bond should occur within six hours when the applicable requirements are met, unless extraordinary circumstances apply. Required electronic monitoring can affect that timeline. Processing is not necessarily immediate after payment.
How to Check a Larimer County Court Date
The jail inmate record can list upcoming court dates, but the Colorado Judicial Branch docket is the better place to verify the court proceeding itself.
- Copy the case or docket number from the jail record when available.
- Open the Colorado Judicial Branch Docket Search.
- Select Larimer County and enter the case number or party information.
- Compare the name and case number with the inmate record.
- Check the hearing date, time, courtroom and appearance type.

- Visits may be monitored and recorded.

Phone Calls, Messages and Inmate Mail
Phone calls
Inmates can make collect or prepaid outgoing calls. They cannot receive normal incoming calls. Larimer County states that inmate calls are generally limited to 15 minutes and are subject to monitoring and recording.
The jail uses ViaPath/GettingOut and ConnectNetwork services for communication. If an inmate is having difficulty reaching you, check whether your line accepts the type of call being placed. Three-way and forwarded calls are not permitted.
Digital messages
Registered contacts can exchange digital messages through GettingOut. These messages are not confidential, so sensitive or privileged information should not be sent through ordinary inmate messaging.
Personal mail
Regular personal letters, pictures and drawings are digitally scanned and delivered to the inmate through a tablet. The Sheriff’s Office currently directs personal mail to:
Inmate Name, BN#Booking Number
P.O. Box 247
Phoenix, MD 21131
Important: The county says the address must contain BN# followed by the inmate’s booking number.
Attorney-client privileged mail
Privileged legal mail should continue to be sent directly to the facility:

Booking Photos, Older Jail Records and Arrest Records
The live inmate search is not the same as a public-records request. If you need a booking photo, older inmate record, arrest/charge summary, incident material or another official document, use the Larimer County Sheriff’s Records Unit.
As of July 2026, the Sheriff’s Office directs records requests through its online request system. A separate JustFOIA account is not required for a basic submission.
To request a booking photo
- Open the Larimer County Sheriff Records page.
- Choose the Criminal Justice Records request option.
- Provide the inmate or subject’s identifying information and the approximate booking or arrest date.
- Specify that you are requesting a booking photograph if that is the record you need.
- Submit the request and follow the invoice/payment instructions if a fee applies.
The Records Unit notes that many records are not immediately available and that some incident records may not generally be ready until roughly 10–14 days after the incident. Release can also be limited by Colorado law, investigation status, juvenile protections or other restrictions.
