Find a Columbia County Jail Inmate and Check the Current Roster
If you are trying to find someone arrested in Columbia County, Oregon, start with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Inmate Census. The Sheriff publishes a current jail roster for people held at the Columbia County Jail in St. Helens. The listing can show the inmate’s name, booking date, listed charges, bail and any scheduled release date published by the jail.
Fastest route: open the official roster, check the date and time shown at the top, find the person’s surname, then open the matching inmate record to review the booking number, arrest and booking dates, charges and bail information.

How to Search the Columbia County Jail Roster
The Columbia County system is closer to a live roster than a commercial name-search database. You can normally find the person directly from the Sheriff-maintained inmate census.
- Open the Sheriff’s Inmate Census. Use the official link above rather than a people-search or mugshot site.
- Check the roster timestamp. The current listing displays a date, time and inmate count near the top. This tells you when the displayed roster snapshot was generated.
- Find the surname. The listing is alphabetical. On a computer, Ctrl+F on Windows or Command+F on Mac can make a long roster faster to search.
- Open the inmate’s name. A linked name can lead to a more detailed jail record.
- Verify the identity. Compare more than the name when possible. The detailed record may provide age, sex, arrest date, booking date, booking number and physical descriptors.
- Read the charge and bail fields carefully. They describe jail information, not the final outcome of the criminal case.
- Use the court record for the legal case. If you need the filed charge, hearing, disposition or final result, check the Columbia County Circuit Court rather than relying only on the jail roster.

What the Columbia County Inmate Roster Can Show
| Roster field | What it means | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Inmate name | The booking name published by the jail. | Verify the correct person before relying on any other field. |
| Book date | Date the jail processed the person into custody. | Useful for separating people with similar names and recent arrests. |
| Charge | Charge information associated with the jail record. | Treat it as booking/custody information; confirm filed charges through the court. |
| Bail | Amount shown by the jail at the time of the roster update. | Confirm again before paying because a judge or hold can change release conditions. |
| Scheduled release date | A release-related date when one is available. | Do not treat a future date as guaranteed; custody can change. |
| Booking number | Local identifier shown on the detailed inmate page. | Useful when calling the jail, sending mail or distinguishing similar names. |
| Arrest/booking details | The detailed record may show arrest and booking dates, physical descriptors and charge dispositions. | Use several identifiers together rather than identifying someone from a name alone. |
A booking record is not a conviction. Charges can change, cases can be dismissed, and a court may reach an outcome different from the information first recorded at booking.
What to Do if the Person Is Not on the Roster
No result does not automatically mean the person was never arrested. Work through the likely explanations in this order:
If the arrest occurred through a municipal agency and you are unsure where the person was taken, our city jail inmate search guide explains how short-term city custody can differ from county jail custody.
Bail, Charges, Court Dates and Release Information
The jail roster and the court record answer different questions. Use the jail for current custody and booking information; use the court for the criminal case itself.

Use Jail Information Responsibly
A jail roster records custody information. It does not prove guilt, establish a conviction or replace the court docket. Do not identify someone from a name alone when the consequence matters. Compare the booking date, age, booking number or other lawful identifiers where available.

Columbia County Jail Inmate Search FAQs
1. Is this the Columbia County Jail in Oregon?
Yes. This guide covers the Columbia County Jail at 901 Port Avenue in St. Helens, Oregon. Other states also have counties named Columbia, so confirm the state before using a roster.
2. How do I find someone currently in Columbia County Jail?
Open the Columbia County Sheriff’s official Inmate Census, check the roster’s date and time, locate the person’s surname and open the matching inmate record. Verify the identity using booking details rather than a name alone.
3. What information does the Columbia County jail roster show?
The current listing can show an inmate name, booking date, charges, bail and scheduled release date. The linked detail record may also show the booking number, arrest date, age, sex, physical descriptors, total bail and charge disposition information.
4. Why is a recently arrested person not appearing on the roster?
The booking may still be processing, the name may be recorded differently, the person may already have been released or transferred, another agency may have custody, or the information may not be publicly displayed. Retry the official list and call the jail when current custody must be confirmed.
5. Does $0 bail mean the inmate can be released without paying?
Not necessarily. A zero bail field by itself does not explain every hold or release condition. Before making plans, confirm the person’s current release eligibility with the jail or Columbia County Circuit Court.
6. Where can I verify charges and court dates?
Use the Columbia County Circuit Court through the Oregon Judicial Department. The jail roster is useful for custody and booking information, while the court record is the better source for filed charges, hearings, dismissals and final case outcomes.
7. How do I visit an inmate at Columbia County Jail?
The inmate schedules the public visit and must place the visitor on an approved list. The inmate needs the visitor’s full name and date of birth. Visit times depend on the inmate’s housing pod, so check the Sheriff’s current visitation page before traveling.
8. How can I put money on an inmate’s account?
The Sheriff’s Office directs deposits through Access Corrections, its listed phone service at 1-866-345-1884, or the kiosk at the Sheriff’s Office. The official page states that cash and money orders should not be mailed to the jail.
9. How do phone calls and inmate mail work?
Securus provides inmate phone service. For mail, use the inmate’s booking name and include the sender’s name and return address. Mail must comply with jail rules; food, clothing, beverages and other personal property are not accepted through ordinary inmate mail.
10. Where should I search if the inmate was transferred?
For Oregon custody or notification information, check VISOR. If the person entered Oregon state-prison custody, use the Oregon Department of Corrections offender search. Federal custody requires a separate federal search, while court case information remains with the appropriate court.
