Find a Baldwin County Inmate and Check Current Jail Details
If you are looking for someone arrested in Baldwin County, Alabama, start with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office inmate-confinement system. It can be used to check people currently confined, recent admissions and releases, names, charges, and arresting agencies.
Fastest route: open the official inmate search, choose Current Confinements for someone believed to be in jail now, or use the admits/releases and name-search options when the arrest or release happened recently.
Official resources and operating information reviewed October 27, 2026. Custody, bond, release, visitation and vendor information can change, so verify the live record before paying money, mailing anything or traveling to the facility.
How to Search the Baldwin County Jail Roster
- Open the Sheriff’s Arrest Search page. Use the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office page rather than a commercial people-search result.
- Select “View Current Inmates and/or 24 Hour Bookings.” This opens the Sheriff’s Citizen Connect inmate-confinement system.
- Choose the correct search mode. Use Current Confinements for someone believed to be held now. Use Admits or Releases when you know approximately when the person entered or left custody.
- Search the legal name. The portal has separate first, middle and last-name fields. Start with the surname and add other information only when it helps narrow the results.
- Try charge or arresting agency when useful. These filters can help when a name is common or when you know which law-enforcement agency made the arrest.
- Check the matching booking carefully. Do not rely on a similar name alone. Compare the available booking and identifying information before taking action.
- Recheck time-sensitive information. Release, bond and custody status can change after court action or processing.
What the Official Baldwin County Search Lets You Check
| Search option | Best use | Practical tip |
|---|---|---|
| Current Confinements | People currently shown in Baldwin County custody | Use this first when you believe the person is still jailed. |
| Admits by Date Range | Recent jail admissions | Choose the last 24 hours, last 7 days or a custom period. |
| Releases by Date Range | Recent releases | Useful when a person disappeared from the current roster. |
| Name | Search by first, middle and/or last name | Try fewer fields if an exact full-name search returns nothing. |
| Charges | Search booking charge text | The portal gives “DUI” as an example of a charge search. |
| Arresting Agency | Filter by the agency connected with the arrest | Useful when you know which police or law-enforcement agency handled the arrest. |
| Custom date range | Admissions or releases during a known period | The official interface limits a date-range search to 31 days or less. |
The Sheriff links directly to the Citizen Connect system from its official Arrest Search page, so you can use the public roster without paying a third-party site simply to locate current Baldwin County custody information.
If the Inmate Does Not Appear
A blank result does not necessarily mean the person was never arrested. Work through these checks in order:
- Verify the legal spelling of the first and last name.
- Retry with only the last name or fewer name fields.
- Use Admits by Date Range if the arrest happened recently.
- Use Releases by Date Range if the person may already have left the jail.
- Confirm that the arrest happened in Baldwin County rather than another Alabama county or a municipal jurisdiction.
- Allow for intake and booking processing after a very recent arrest.
- Check whether the person was transferred into Alabama Department of Corrections custody.
- Use the federal locator if the matter involves federal incarceration.
For a time-sensitive custody question that cannot be resolved online, call the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office/Corrections number at 251-937-0202 and have the person’s full legal name available.
Charges, Bond and the Criminal Court Case
The jail roster and the court case answer different questions. The Sheriff’s Corrections Command states that the Docket Room can provide bond amounts and charges. The court system is the better source for filed charges, hearings, pleas, rulings and the final disposition.
| You need to know | Best source |
|---|---|
| Is the person currently in Baldwin County custody? | Sheriff’s Current Confinements search |
| Was the person admitted or released recently? | Citizen Connect admits/releases search |
| What charge is listed with the booking? | Jail record / Docket Room |
| What bond amount is currently listed? | Docket Room and current court/jail information |
| What was formally filed in court? | Baldwin County Circuit Clerk / Alabama trial-court records |
| What happened to the case? | Court record, not the jail roster |
How to move from the jail record to the court record
- Find the correct inmate or booking first.
- Write down the person’s exact legal name and any case-related information available.
- Open the Baldwin County Twenty-Eighth Judicial Circuit website.
- Use the court’s available record-access route or the Alabama “Just One Look” trial-court system linked by the Circuit Clerk.
- If an online record is not enough, the Circuit Clerk website also provides a court-record request form.

Inmate trust-account deposits
Current Sheriff instructions list two main deposit methods:

County Jail, Alabama State Prison or Federal Custody?
Searching the wrong correctional system is a common reason an inmate cannot be found.
| Situation | Where to search | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Recent Baldwin County arrest or current local custody | Baldwin County Sheriff’s inmate search | Use Current Confinements, admits, releases or name search. |
| Criminal case after booking | Baldwin County Circuit Clerk / Alabama trial-court system | Use for filed case activity and outcome. |
| Transferred to Alabama state prison | Alabama Department of Corrections Inmate Search | ADOC’s online database covers currently incarcerated state inmates. AIS number is the most precise search when known. |
| Federal incarceration | Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator | Use for BOP custody; a recently arrested federal defendant may not yet be in BOP custody. |
ADOC states that its public search contains currently incarcerated inmates rather than historical state-prison data. Its six-digit AIS number is the fastest way to identify a specific state inmate when you already know that number.
