How to Search the Fort Bend County Jail Roster

  1. Go directly to the county search. Use jailinq.fortbendcountytx.gov rather than a paid people-search or mugshot website.
  2. Enter the full last name. Fort Bend County lists the last name as the main search field. Add the full first name when you need to narrow multiple matches.
  3. Submit the search. Check spelling carefully, especially hyphenated names, suffixes and multiple surnames.
  4. Match the correct inmate. Do not rely on a name alone when several people have similar names.
  5. Open the Jail ID. The Jail ID is the link the county instructs users to select for the inmate’s detailed information.
Recently arrested? Allow for the county’s approximately four-hour booking/processing period. Intake can include identification, fingerprints, photographs, medical screening, risk assessment, property processing, classification and creation of the jail record.

What can you use the inmate record for?

The jail inquiry is primarily for current custody and booking information. After locating the correct person, use the available jail details to identify the inmate, review the booking and available charge or bond information, and obtain the Jail ID needed for other jail services.

A jail record means a person was booked or detained. It does not mean the person was convicted. Charges, bond conditions and case status can change after a judge or court takes action.

How long does release take after bond?

Fort Bend County’s bonding-process document says the book-out process usually takes about 1½ to 3 hours after the Bonding Department receives the bond, although unforeseen circumstances can make it longer.

The county document explains that release processing can include fingerprint identification, an NCIC wanted-person check, movement from housing to the booking/release office, signing bond and release documents, receiving the court date and changing back into personal clothing before release through the detention lobby.

The county’s published bonding-process PDF also describes a cash fee associated with surety bonds. Because fees and statutes can change, confirm the current amount with the Bonding Office before paying.

Sending Mail to a Fort Bend County Inmate

Fort Bend County changed its personal-mail process in 2024. Ordinary personal mail is no longer delivered directly to the jail. Personal correspondence goes through the Securus Digital Mail Center, where it is scanned and made available to the inmate through a tablet or kiosk.

Personal mail

Inmate’s Full Name
Inmate ID Number (P#)
C/O Securus DMC – FBC Jail
PO Box 21108
Tampa, FL 33622

Include a return address. The county states that items that cannot be scanned may be returned. Packages and certified mail are not accepted through the personal digital-mail process. Physical correspondence is destroyed after the county’s published retention period following upload.

Before mailing: Fort Bend County displays the current personal-mail address on its official inmate-mail page as an image. Check that page immediately before sending time-sensitive correspondence in case the processing address changes.

Legal mail

Legal/privileged mail follows a different process and goes to the detention facility. The envelope should be clearly marked Legal Mail and must meet the Sheriff’s definition of privileged correspondence.

Inmate’s Name and Jail ID
Fort Bend County Jail
1410 Richmond Parkway
Richmond, TX 77469

Books and publications

The Sheriff currently permits no more than three paperback books or publications in one mailing. Publications must come directly from an established bookstore or publisher, and the inmate’s P# must appear on the shipping label. Hardcover, leather-bound and spiral-bound books are prohibited.

How to Check the Inmate’s Fort Bend County Court Case

The jail search answers the custody question. For a court date, criminal case filing, case status or disposition, use Fort Bend County’s separate court-record system.

  1. Find the inmate first and note the correct legal name and available case information.
  2. Open Fort Bend County Odyssey Public Access.
  3. Select Criminal Case Records.
  4. Choose the appropriate search option, such as Defendant or Case.
  5. Compare the defendant name and case information with the jail record.

The county’s online court-record system also provides a Court Calendar. Jail information and court information should be treated as separate records because a booking entry does not show the final outcome of a criminal case.
