How to Search the Bradford County Jail Roster
You do not need to buy a commercial background report just to check Bradford County jail custody. The Sheriff’s SmartWEB system provides the direct county search.
Go to smartweb.bradfordsheriff.org. The Sheriff’s own jail page also links to this system.
Enter the person’s legal last name. Add the first name only when needed to narrow multiple results.
SmartWEB provides fields for first, middle and last name and can also use booking-date or release-date ranges.
Compare the person’s name, age or date-of-birth information, booking date, booking number and charge information. Do not rely on a common name alone.
If a court case number appears beside a charge, keep it. It can make the related Bradford County court-record search much faster.
Bradford County includes Starke, Lawtey, Hampton, Brooker and surrounding unincorporated areas. If the arrest occurred within Bradford County but the person is not in the roster, do not immediately assume there was no arrest—the person may still be in intake, already released, transferred or held for another agency.
What a Bradford County Inmate Record Can Show
The exact information varies by booking, but the SmartWEB jail record can display enough detail to identify the correct person and determine what to do next.
| Record field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Custody status | Helps confirm whether the person is currently listed as in jail or has a different status. |
| Booking number | Identifies the particular jail booking and can help when contacting the facility. |
| Booking date | Shows when the inmate entered the Bradford County jail system. |
| Age / identifying details | Useful for separating people who have similar names. |
| Charges | Shows allegations connected with the booking. A jail charge is not proof of guilt. |
| Statute / degree / level | May help identify the Florida offense and whether it is listed as a felony or misdemeanor. |
| Court case number | Useful for continuing the search through the Bradford County Clerk of Court. |
| Bond amount | May show the amount associated with an individual charge after bond information has been entered. |
A booking record and a criminal court record answer different questions. The jail roster tells you about custody and booking. The Clerk of Court record is the better source for filed charges, docket activity, hearings, court orders and the eventual disposition of the case.
If a Recently Arrested Person Does Not Appear
There are several normal reasons a person may not immediately appear in a Bradford County jail search:
- The arrest is recent and intake or booking has not finished.
- The name is recorded differently from the spelling you searched.
- The person was released before you searched.
- The person was transferred or is being held for another agency.
- The arrest occurred in another county even though the person lives in Bradford County.
- The person moved into Florida Department of Corrections custody after sentencing.
- The case exists in court records, but the defendant is not currently incarcerated.
If the arrest happened very recently, search again with fewer fields. If you still cannot resolve the custody status, call the Bradford County Jail at 904-966-6250 and provide the person’s full legal name, approximate age or date of birth and approximate arrest date.
Bond, First Appearance, Court Dates and Release
When bond information becomes available
The Sheriff’s Office explains that bond information for a new booking is often unavailable until after the inmate’s first appearance before a judge. Bradford County Jail states that first appearances are held daily at approximately 10:00 a.m.. Jail staff may need to receive the judge’s written order before the final bond information can be entered.
How to check the criminal court case
- Find the correct inmate in SmartWEB.
- Write down the court case number shown with the relevant charge, if available.
- Open the Bradford County Clerk online-records page.
- Use the Clerk’s “Search Online Records” option.
- Search by the case number when possible; it is more precise than searching a common name.
- Review the available docket information for filed charges, hearings, orders and case activity.
For criminal traffic, misdemeanor or felony questions, the Bradford County Clerk currently lists 904-966-6255. The Clerk’s main office is at 945 N. Temple Ave., Starke, FL 32091.
Court date versus release date
The Sheriff’s jail page directs court-date questions to the Bradford County Clerk of Court or the inmate’s attorney. For an inmate’s release date or current release processing, contact the jail directly. A projected release or bond payment does not always mean the person will leave immediately because other holds and processing requirements may apply.
Personal property after booking
The jail does not accept personal property for inmates. According to the Sheriff’s current jail guidance, an inmate may authorize another person to pick up the inmate’s property between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Confirm the authorization and current procedure before traveling.
Visitation, Calls, Messages, Money and Mail
Video visitation
Bradford County Jail’s published visitation policy says routine visitation is conducted by video. Visits can take place on-site or off-site using a personal device. Other types of visits require prior approval.
- Only one adult visitor per inmate is allowed in the on-site visitation area.
- Visitors must wear appropriate, non-revealing clothing and footwear.
- Personal property, including cell phones, is not allowed in the visitation area.
- Food and drinks are not allowed.
- Children must remain supervised by a parent or guardian.
- Photos, video recordings and recordings of visits are prohibited.
- Visits may be monitored or recorded.

Telephone and visitation provider: verify before paying
The Sheriff’s current jail webpage directs members of the public to NCIC Correctional Services for telephone/visitation accounts and lists 1-800-942-2189. However, a telephone-policy PDF linked by the same Sheriff’s Office names HomeWAV as the telephone provider.
The telephone policy also says jail staff do not take routine phone messages for inmates except messages from attorneys. Phone privileges can be restricted because of disciplinary, health or security concerns.
Electronic messages and photos
Bradford County’s inmate-messaging policy directs users to InmateInbox. The general process is:
- Create an account.
- Wait for the inmate to add the account to the inmate’s contact list.
- Purchase credits if you choose to use the service.
- Send messages or permitted photos.
Messages are subject to law-enforcement review. Photos are reviewed before approval, and the jail notes that photo approvals are normally not processed on weekends or holidays.
Depositing money for commissary
The Sheriff’s Office lists two deposit methods:
- Online: use the approved Commissary Deposit service and choose Florida, then Bradford County Jail and the correct inmate.
- Jail lobby kiosk: deposits may be made during normal business hours using cash or an accepted debit/credit card. The Sheriff’s page lists Visa and Mastercard.
Confirm the inmate is still housed at Bradford County Jail before depositing funds. Provider fees and deposit limits can change, so review the amount displayed by the approved service before submitting payment.
How to mail an inmate
General inmate mail goes to:
PO Box 310
Starke, FL 32091
The jail’s current mail-policy PDF says ordinary incoming mail, other than privileged/legal mail, must be sent as a postcard.
| Mail rule | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Postcard size | At least 3½ × 4¼ inches and no larger than 4¼ × 6 inches. |
| Postage | Postcard must be pre-stamped; the jail policy says regular postage stamps are not allowed. |
| Inmate identification | Include the inmate’s full name. |
| Sender information | Include a complete return address. |
| Attachments | Do not attach pictures, stickers, labels, plastic wrapping or similar items. |
| Other mail items | The policy says packages, subscriptions, individual magazines and books are not accepted. |
Mail is screened for contraband and security concerns. Legal and privileged mail follows a separate process. Before mailing anything time-sensitive, you can review the official inmate-mail policy PDF.
Warrants, Arrest Records and Public Records
Inmate search and warrant search are not the same
An outstanding warrant does not necessarily mean the person is currently in jail. Bradford County Sheriff’s Office provides a separate Bradford County warrant search.
Need a jail, arrest or sheriff record?
The Bradford County Sheriff’s Records Unit handles public-record requests for qualifying sheriff records, including reports and other agency records that are public under Florida law. The Records Unit states that it is generally open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, excluding holidays.
If the Person Is No Longer in Bradford County Jail
A person can disappear from the county roster and still be incarcerated. The correct next search depends on where the person went.
| Situation | Where to search |
|---|---|
| Currently held in Bradford County Jail | Bradford County SmartWEB |
| Sentenced to Florida state prison | Florida Department of Corrections Offender Search |
| Federal inmate | Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator |
| Need case outcome or court activity | Bradford County Clerk court-record access |
| Need release/transfer notifications | VINE custody notification service |
The Florida Department of Corrections database covers offenders sentenced to state prison or state supervision. It is not a substitute for a county-jail search immediately after a local arrest.

Bradford County Jail Inmate Search FAQs
1. What is the official Bradford County Jail inmate search?
The official county inmate lookup is the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office SmartWEB Jail View at smartweb.bradfordsheriff.org. It is the best starting point for checking current Bradford County jail custody and booking information.
2. Is the Bradford County jail roster free to search?
Yes. The Sheriff’s public SmartWEB jail search can be used without purchasing a commercial background or people-search report.
3. Why is someone who was just arrested not showing in the roster?
The person may still be going through intake, may be booked under a different name format, may already have been released or may be held or transferred elsewhere. Try the last name alone and contact the jail at 904-966-6250 when the custody status remains unclear.
4. What information can the Bradford County inmate roster show?
Depending on the booking, SmartWEB may show custody status, booking number, booking date, identifying information, charges, statutes, court case numbers and bond information.
5. When will bond information appear after a Bradford County arrest?
The Sheriff’s Office says bond information may not be available until after first appearance, which is held daily at approximately 10:00 a.m. The jail may need the judge’s written order before the final bond information is available.
6. What is the Bradford County Jail address and phone number?
Bradford County Jail is at 945-A N. Temple Ave., Starke, Florida 32091. The jail office number is 904-966-6250.

Routine visitation is conducted by video and can take place on-site or off-site using a personal device. Visitors must follow the jail’s dress, conduct, supervision and recording rules.
8. How do I send money, mail or messages to a Bradford County inmate?
The Sheriff’s Office lists Commissary Deposit or the jail lobby kiosk for inmate-account deposits, InmateInbox for electronic messaging and PO Box 310, Starke, FL 32091 for inmate mail. Ordinary incoming mail is generally limited to postcards under the jail’s published mail policy.
9. How can I find an inmate’s Bradford County court date?
The jail directs court-date questions to the Bradford County Clerk of Court or the inmate’s attorney. Use the case number from the jail record when available and search the Clerk’s online court-record system, or contact the criminal division at 904-966-6255.
10. Where should I search if the inmate was transferred out of Bradford County Jail?
Use the Florida Department of Corrections Offender Search for someone moved into Florida state-prison custody. For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator. A person can leave the county jail roster while remaining incarcerated elsewhere.
Best practical approach: use Bradford County SmartWEB first, confirm the correct booking, save the booking and case numbers, then use the Clerk only when you need court activity and the jail only when you need current bond, release, housing or facility-specific information. An arrest or jail booking is not a conviction; verify the court record when the final outcome matters.
Facility procedures, service providers and custody information can change. For payments, visitation or a time-sensitive release question, confirm the current instruction through the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office before taking action.
