Find a Washington County, Utah Jail Inmate and Check Current Custody
If you are looking for someone arrested in Washington County, Utah, start with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office current inmate roster. The county jail is the Purgatory Correctional Facility (PCF) in Hurricane, Utah. The Sheriff’s Office also publishes recent booking information and a separate release report, so you can usually determine whether a person is still in custody, was recently booked, or has already been released without searching multiple commercial websites.
Important: This guide is for Washington County, Utah. There are Washington Counties in many other states, so confirm the arrest happened in the St. George, Hurricane, Washington City or surrounding Washington County area before using these resources.
Official Washington County Sheriff’s Office resources reviewed October 17, 2026. Jail rosters, bond status, charges and release information can change throughout the day.
How to Use the Washington County Jail Inmate Search
- Open the official current inmate roster. Use the Washington County Sheriff’s Office roster linked above rather than a paid people-search website.
- Look for the inmate’s legal name. The roster is arranged alphabetically and lists people currently shown in Washington County custody.
- Compare the identifying number. The public roster includes a name number/PCF identifier that can help distinguish people with similar names.
- Check the incarceration time and date. This helps confirm whether the record matches a recent arrest you are trying to locate.
- For more booking detail, check the Sheriff’s booking report. Recent booking entries can contain the arrest date, arresting agency, custody status, criminal charge, statute, crime classification, court and required amount.
- If the person disappeared from the current roster, check the release report. Washington County publishes releases from Purgatory Correctional Facility for the prior 14 days.
What Information Can You Find?
Washington County uses more than one public report. Choosing the right one can save time.
| Official resource | Best use | Information you may see |
|---|---|---|
| Current Inmate Roster | Confirm current county jail custody | Name number, inmate name and time/date incarcerated |
| Recent Bookings | Investigate a new arrest | PCF number, arrest date, city/state, arresting agency, custody status, charges, statute, crime classification, court and required amount |
| 14-Day Release Report | Check whether someone recently left PCF custody | Name and release date/time |
| Utah court records | Check the criminal case after booking | Case number, filing information, hearings, parties, judgments and other public case information when available |
| Utah DOC Offender Search | Find a person transferred to state correctional supervision | Utah Department of Corrections custody, probation or parole information |
A jail booking record is not the same as a conviction. Charges can be amended, dismissed or resolved differently in court. Always use the court record when you need the formal case status.
What to Do If the Inmate Does Not Appear
A missing roster result does not automatically mean the person was never arrested. Work through these possibilities in order:
- Very recent arrest: booking may still be processing. Check the recent booking report or contact PCF.
- Recently released: search the Sheriff’s 14-day release report.
- Transferred to Utah state custody: use the Utah Department of Corrections Offender Search.
- Held in another county or state: verify the arresting agency and jurisdiction before searching another jail.
- Name variation: try the person’s full legal surname, hyphenated name or alternate spelling.
Bail and Inmate Account Funds
The Sheriff’s Office lists several ways to pay an inmate’s bail at Purgatory Correctional Facility:
- Bring cash to PCF staff.
- Use a credit card at the lobby kiosk.
- Call 866-516-0115.
- Use GettingOut online.
For inmate account funds, the county lists the PCF lobby kiosk for cash or credit-card deposits and JailATM for online deposits.
The Sheriff’s Office also places restrictions on some deposits. For example, members of the public generally may not deposit into multiple PCF inmate accounts without approval, and a person who is on an approved visitation list for one inmate may not deposit into another inmate’s account. Review the current PCF bail and funds rules before sending money.
Visitation and Inmate Phone Calls
General visits
Washington County directs general visitation users to GettingOut. Visits can be handled using a compatible smartphone, tablet or computer. For current general visitation and phone-service information, use GettingOut or call 1-866-516-0115.
PCF visitation contact:
- Email: visiting@washeriff.net
- Phone: (435) 656-6669
Phone access
The Sheriff’s Office says inmates generally have telephone access in their housing units after admission. Unless otherwise restricted, phones are normally available daily from about 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. after bunk inspections are completed.
- Personal calls may be monitored and recorded.
- Established legal calls are excluded from monitoring when the facility is properly notified.
- Local and long-distance calls may be made collect or by using phone minutes purchased through commissary.
- A one-time free call to a cell phone may be permitted so the recipient can arrange future calls.
- Housing status, discipline or facility operations can restrict phone availability.
Read the official visitation information and official inmate phone rules before scheduling or paying for services.
How to Send Mail to a Washington County Inmate
PCF has specific mail rules. For ordinary personal correspondence, the Sheriff’s Office states that incoming and outgoing personal mail must generally be in postcard form, except legal mail and other specifically approved items.
Mailing address Purgatory Correctional FacilityInmate’s Full Name
750 S 5300 W
Hurricane, UT 84737
Important mail rules
- Include the sender’s full name and complete return address.
- Postcards larger than 6 inches by 11.5 inches are not accepted.
- Do not attach photos, glitter, perfume, lipstick or other prohibited material to postcards.
- Photographs may be mailed separately when the envelope is clearly marked “Photographs.”
- Photos may not exceed 5 × 7 inches; the inmate’s name and name number should be written on the back of each photo.
- New books and other commercially produced publications generally must come directly from a publisher or authorized national distributor.
- Hardback books are not accepted.
- Cash, money orders, checks and similar negotiable instruments are not delivered through inmate mail.
- PCF does not forward mail after an inmate leaves the facility.
Mail rules can change and rejected items are normally returned rather than delivered. Check the official PCF mail instructions before mailing anything unusual.
How to Check Charges, Court Dates and Case Status
The Sheriff’s recent booking report may identify the court connected with a charge. Washington County felony and other qualifying criminal matters commonly route through the Fifth District Court in St. George.
For public district and justice court case information, Utah Courts provides Xchange. It can provide public case information such as case numbers, filing information, parties, attorneys, hearings, judgments and case outcomes when those records are public.
Practical court-record workflow
- Find the correct inmate in the Sheriff’s roster or booking report.
- Write down the exact legal name, arrest date, court and any case information shown.
- Open Utah Courts Xchange.
- Search the person’s name and narrow by Washington County or court when possible.
- Compare the criminal case with the jail booking before relying on it.
Sealed, expunged, juvenile and other legally restricted records will not appear as ordinary public records.
Recent Releases, Older Jail Records and Official Documents
If the person is no longer on the live roster, the prior 14-day release report is the best next check. It is specifically published for people released from Purgatory Correctional Facility during the previous two weeks.
If you need an older arrest report, incident record or other government document rather than current custody information, use the Washington County Sheriff’s Office records process. The Sheriff’s contact page provides access to its Utah Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA) request process.

The Washington County inmate roster is useful for locating someone and understanding the booking, but custody changes quickly. Confirm the live roster before paying bail, sending money, mailing property, scheduling a visit or traveling to Purgatory Correctional Facility. A booking or charge also does not establish guilt; use the Utah court record when you need the formal case status.
